Badagar Community

I belong to Badagar community ,which forms the largest community inhabiting the Nilagiri region of Southern India. we have around 150,000 peoples in 370 (app.) villages as Badagars in the region, but now they have mixed with people all over India and world too.
Badagars are basically agricultural people cultivating Tea, Cofee, and almost all vegetables. Our Language is "Badagu" which is a dilect of Kannada, an Indian Language. The intresting feature of Badagu language is that their is no written script , its only spoken orally among fellow Badagars.
Their has never been a clear history on Badagars origin , but many believe that we descended from Karnataka,Southern India. Our cultural aspects are very distinct from any other group. Even though we Badagars are Hindu devotees, we have a affinity to nature worshipping. Badagars live in small villages called "Hatti", each located either above a hill or in the valley of Nilagiri,Southern India. Each Village(Hatti) has an elected head known as "Gowdar" who controls and leads others in that Village(Hatti).

Badagars have certain unique aspects they are
1)dressing-
  • A typical Badagar Man wears a "Dhothi or Mundu( Long cotton wear)" ,"Dupatti(worn on shirts)" and "Kovili(turban)"
  • A typical Badagar Woman wears a "Thundu", "Dhothi or Mundu" and a Shawl
2)Dance and Music-
  • Badagar dances during Wedings, Birth anniversaries, Funerals etc.,
  • Have a unique style of dancing which involes bending up and down , dancing in groups.
  • Music mainly consits of hard beats.

Yes he did!-Obama

America's next president Barack Obama said change is to come while in his campaign and here it comes, as he becomes the first African-American president . No one in the world seem to dislike him, winning with a landslide majority he proves that dedication and hard work pays.
He is gonna assume house in January 2009, as the world expects nothing but a "change" from him. Will he be able to control the economic recession?, the war at Iran/Iraq?, how is america's relation with other countrys gonna be? Answers will be soon realised.
After being elected as the next president , he assembled a team to help him. They are Cheif of Staff is Rahm Emaneul, senior advisor is David Axelrod,Transistion co chair is Valerie Jarret , John Podesta and Pete Rouse finally Press Secretary is Robert Gibbs .
Will these men with Obama bring us the "change" we need?
"Yes We Can"-Barack Obama...
Lets hope they do!!

Its Scahin once more!

My Favorite Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar(Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar) born on 24th April 1973 at Mumbai, his Test and ODI debut was at 1989-90 verses Pakistan.Today he has scored his 40th Test Century against Australians at Nagpur . Scoring 109 of 188 balls he did this feat. Congrats Sachin ,he is the greatest cricketer the world has ever seen and will ever see.
Well he is the highest run scorer in both formats of the game ( Test's & ODI's). In test he has a total score of 12,027 runs at an average of 54.02. In ODI's he scored 16,361 at an average of 44.33. Doesn't it suffice to call him a cricket God.
He is definitely making India proud.Hope he scores 20,000 in both the formats of the game(little too much ? :-) ) and let no one ever could touch his achievements. Congrats ! Congrats!!!! We salute you! Especially I do!!!

Love ?

It's so strange that this small little emotion has the capability of making and breaking us at the same time.I am not any expert to comment about this unfathomable feeling but whatever i have penned down here, is completely based on my experiences.

When one is surrounded by love, the feeling of excitement fades away, and one tends to ignore the true love that lies in between the peace and dullness.Love shows up in all forms, even very small and cheeky forms, it has never been a model, it could be the most dull and boring form flowers and romantic moments become boring after a while and they only tend to appear on the surface of the relationship.

Under all this, the pillar of true love stands and that's our life. Love, not words, win arguments.Sometimes we expect far too much from the people around us and because no one can ever live up to those expectations, we are almost always disappointed.Wouldn't it be better if we just let go, and let people be who they are?

Then we'd be able to see them as they are -- with all their beauty and goodness in which we take joy and with all their faults which we can also see in ourselves. When we have put someone up on a pedestal, sculpturing them to fit our needs and desires by smoothing out the rough edges and creating new curves here and there, we cannot see the real person underneath our work.

All we see is the illusion we have created. That is denying the person's real identity and is disrespectful. It's much better for our friends and for ourselves if we drop our expectations and illusions and accept them just the way they are.Whether we realize it or not, everyone we know is very special to us. The most important thing to remember is... Always appreciate the friends that you have. A fight may come and go very easily but a friendship could last forever. The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones who care.

Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it?

It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life...

You give them a piece of you. They didn't ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore.

Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like 'maybe we should be just friends' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love!!!!! (untill i get one)

The man who lived forever

One of my favorite stories that i heard as a child was the story of “the man who lived forever”.

There was once a man who was very afraid to die. And so he prayed constantly to God asking him to grant him his wish. So one day God finally answered his prayer and appeared in the man’s dream. God asked him,”What is it that you wish for from me?” The man replied, ” I wish to live forever.” God asked him, “Are you sure about this? Because i am going to grant you only one wish. And you cannot change it back even if you wish to.” The man replied,”I’m sure of it God. I want to live forever.”

God granted that man’s wish and disappeared. The next day the man woke up happy to know that he was never going to die. He lived his life happily. He got married and had a son.

As it goes, its only natural to get old. And with old age comes all sorts of diseases and disabilities.

The man got old. He was diagnosed with many diseases. But he didn’t die. When he crossed 100yrs of age, he became incapable of movement But he was remained alive despite everything.

One fine day his son decided that he had had enough of this. Taking care of the old man was taking most of his time and energy. So the man’s son went to a potter and asked him to make a pot big enough to hold one man’s body. When the pot was ready, the son placed his father inside the pot and placed a lid on it. He asked the pot to be placed inside the cellar. That’s where the old man stayed forever. His son died. Generations came and went but the man remained alive in the pot in the cellar. Once in a while the old man’s great-grandchildren would hear a cough or sneeze from the cellar. But no one cared.

The old man never saw the light of day again. But he is still alive in some part of the world. He can never die and he can’t ask god to take back his wish.

Moral of the story - There is a time for everything. A time to eat. A time to sleep. A time to live. A time to love. And a time to die. And each thing should be done in its time. Trying to change nature’s laws is going to result in major disappointments.

Rahul the Prime Ministerial candidate?

Rahul Gandhi is right choice for Prime mistership. I am not supporting his candidature for being the son of Gandhi family. He has the quality of good leadership. A few quality of Rajiv Gandhi, must be inherited to Rahul. However, I am giving more preference to Smt Sonia Gnadhi. She is best political leader of our country of the present era.But hee is the right bet for indian politics, its not age that matters for Indian politics rather its wisdom, calibre,Maturity to lead the country.
Lets atleast understand as age goes up one do not enhance his wisdom, its only greying of hair that happens. There are lot of people but Rahul Gandhi is the right choice becoz he is working towards it... PM post cannot be offered to ppl sitting at home munching chips and watching TV....
Talking about politicians, our country need young and dynamic blood which can lead the country in a better direction. More that 80% of the politicians are above 80, illiterate and lying on death bed. Do you think they can take nation to the right direction. And the funniest part, you can see then sleeping(Even PMs) during debates, conferences and meetings...Do you think that we need another sleeping PM or politician..Hence he has all rights for this post. Now India needs a national leader.Chances for absolute majority Government. We need stable Government.Senior leaders can help him.If he has clean hand and willing to do something for the people thats enough.

Jumbo's adieu

Anil Kumble announced his retirement after the third test against Australia. Thank Kumble for his yeoman service to Indian cricket over the years.I would like to congratulate you for the great services you have rendered to the Indian cricket team and the big brother character you have maintained in the team.. All the Best for your future endeavors. He is the greatest spinner the game has ever seen... thanks jumbo for all the entertainment you gave us... we bid farewell to u with tears in our eyes. Not many cricketers have brought us the joy, happiness in a sport ! You are one those rare breeds.. a human on and off the field. I salute you and thank u!! You have become a legend and joined the league of Vishwanath, Chandra, Pras, Kirmani...! A lad from Bangalore who made the whole country proud of her son...!Goodbye, Anil Kumble! You will go down in history as the greatest Indian bowler to-date. You won more test matches with the ball for India than anyone else. Kapil came closest, with Prasanna and Chandrasekhar close behind. But the many memorable test victories you engineered abroad in the 2004-07 period -- and your magnificent achievements at home over the length of your 18-year career -- will remain indelibly in our hearts forever. Thank you Jumbo! Somehow, your last test wicket epitomised everything you stood for: running back off your own bowling to pluck a very difficult catch made all the more astonishing since you had 11 raw surgical stitches on one hand.a very sad news of the retirement of the legendary spinner with a pure, good and the noble soul...we remember u for all the things u have done for India[10 wkts in a match against Pakistan]...u have achieved everything in ckt...hats off to your performance!!!we miss you so much jumbo...:(

Today is 5th october and 7pm as i write this post, it was a low day to start with as my day began at early morning 11am(ha ha). Me yarning to see that sun as risen 5 hours ago .. poor sun :-)
Woke up with yelling sound around, thank god those brisk working men around my street to ring me the alarm sounds. Was i working all night to be awake so late? No. As usual chatting, surfing, dreaming and all other sort of stuffs.
Awake no no to be precise half awake i dropped me out of my bed to begin the day which was half over by then. "Hi Mom,Good Morning" as i call she signs me the wash room! Awake finally Awake , ufff! after a face wash and brushing here i come to the Brunch(Break fast + Lunch).
2 Roasted Dosa is all it takes to give me a yawn aaaaaa! Stomach full so next? sleep which came unintentionally as i started to go round the News in the paper.
After a while..." Praveen , Praveen" a voice i hear so slowly . Light comes in my eyes as i open them to see my Mom saying " wake up its 2pm. As i opened my eyes wide ,it was my father saying those words.. :-)
So again the face wash and the Lunch and the Yawn aaaaa! Sleep !!!,Wake up!! Tea!!
